The Webex/IPX Storage Engineering team builds, deploys, and maintains production SAN and NAS systems in a 24/7 environment across multiple global data centers. Our team works with leading-edge SaaS infrastructure and virtualization technologies, offering an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact as we help transform Cisco's vision of the Cloud into reality.
Your Impact
As a Storage Engineer, you will:
- Implement, maintain, monitor, analyze performance, proactively troubleshoot, and provide ongoing support for the storage infrastructure.
- Drive improvements to the storage infrastructure (including Pure, NetApp, Cisco MDS, etc.).
- Lead automation initiatives for implementation, maintenance, and alerting within the storage environment.
- Deploy and maintain a highly available storage infrastructure requiring 24/7 uptime.
- Provide technical support during incidents outside of business hours (on-call rotation).
- Ensure SAN/NAS device firmware is up to date according to vendor recommendations.
- Participate in programs to deploy proof-of-concept (POC) systems for evaluation and testing.
- Review the environment regularly and execute initiatives to reduce failures and defects while improving overall performance.
Minimum Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience supporting Cisco SAN switches (MDS) in a production environment.
- Demonstrated experience deploying and maintaining SAN systems (such as Pure) in a production environment.
- Experience working in and troubleshooting high-uptime, high-availability environments.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to participate in a regular on-call rotation.
- Strong virtualization skills (ideally with VMware or KVM).
- Solid understanding of networking technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, etc.).
- Industry-standard SAN/NAS certifications are a plus.
Job Type: Contract
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: $450.00 - $470.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
