Eaton’s IS AER ITD division is currently seeking a Senior Cost Accountant.
What you’ll do:
Job Summary
- The Cost Accountant is responsible for analyzing and understanding manufacturing costs and working with the Controller to provide monthly manufacturing finance summaries to the organization. The candidate will play a key role in ensuring that the organization’s manufacturing costs are well understood and communicated, and will also assist with budgets, standard cost rolls, variance analysis and special projects.
Primary Responsibilities
- Creates and publishes monthly manufacturing cost summaries, including details on efficiencies, production variances, and special initiatives aimed at decreasing costs.
- Performs cost analyses for new and existing products, in cooperation with design Engineering, purchasing, planning, and Mfg. Engineering. Works to identify actual vs standard cost discrepancies and drive closure or updates to key ingredients necessary to support accurate costing. Tracks and publishes metrics on costs and inventories.
- Analyzes purchase price variance and production variance analysis, identifies root cause and works with key stakeholders to make corrections as needed. Advise buyers regarding GR/IR, invoicing discrepancies and purchase order inaccuracies
- Supports ad hoc cost analysis and standard cost adjustments.
- Meets regularly with key stakeholders to review actual to budget variances and facilitates the creation of action plans for bridging gaps to budget.
- Works with the Plant Finance Manager and IT to design reporting and launch auto-publishing for key performance data.
- Supports annual plan, long-range plan, and monthly forecasts, collaborating with a variety of organizational stakeholders to foresee shifts in revenue, spending or capital forecasts.
- Supports special projects including preparation of recommendations for policy, procedure, control or action.
- Analyze local P&L for cost leakage and cost savings ideas. Identify cost out opportunities and drive actions to achieve cost out.
- Analyze and advise regarding existing products with low margin. Review and update standard labor and OH rates
- Monitor and identify inventory transaction and cycle count process gaps, sources of inventory inaccuracy and implement corrective actions
- Travels to the plant in Camarillo, CA quarterly (four times per year), or more frequently as needed.
Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced level of English
- Teamwork.
- Effective communicator
- Ability to travel to the US is required.
- US person for ITAR is preferred, but not required.

Education/Previous Experience Requirements
- BS Accounting or equivalent.
- 3 to 5 years’ cost accounting or equivalent experience,
- Familiar with SAP, Oracle Planning or other equivalent ERP System with manufacturing focus.
