POSITION SUMMARY
The Engineering Manager - is an expert in their field and within the organization. The Engineering Manager - manages the lead engineers and individual contributors and is responsible for the success of projects of a notable organizational profile. The Engineering Manager - takes responsibility for the identification, planning, and execution of thermal design projects in support of Vertiv’s global Lines of Business. The Engineering Manager - is responsible for defining projects, negotiating priorities, scheduling tasks, and reporting to senior leadership on progress for a team of Electrical, Software, Mechanical, Thermal, Compliance, and Test Engineers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides technical leadership to internal Vertiv functions - marketing, sales, application engineering, customer technical support and service, and manufacturing.
- Lead team development and New Product Development.
- Responsible for Managing the team’s day to day responsibilities and reporting status to Director of Engineering.
- Develop the team’s expertise and training in Vertiv system tools and Engineering software.
- Assign Priorities to the team and assist them with escalating issues and solving problems.
- Oversee the lab and Test engineers who support the products.
- Review and track engineering budget for site
QUALIFICATIONS
- Technical team Management experience
- +10 years of engineering product development or support experience.
- Thermal design experience
- Working knowledge of thermal concepts, products, safety and test-methods.
- Ability to organize and schedule team activities.
- Data-entry systems familiarity - Oracle, Agile, etc.
- Mechanical CAD tools experience.
- Experience with a modern MCAD and ECAD package preferred or equivalent Electrical Engineering
- Design experience with CREO and Piping & Cabling module preferred.
- Thermal experience related to simulation Interface and refrigeration systems design.
- Excellent planning, organizing, and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and operate in cross functional Global Development Teams.
- Fluency in English
- Some International travel required – 10%
