The Fact-Checker supports the Content Integrity Group’s (CIG) editorial standards by verifying the accuracy and integrity of digital and print content for Condé Nast’s English-language publications. Based in the Mexico network hub, this role works under the supervision of senior team members and in coordination with copy editors, legal affairs editors, and global workflow leadership.
The Fact-Checker ensures that published material is thoroughly vetted for factual accuracy, aligned with Condé Nast’s editorial and ethical standards, and appropriate for its intended audience. This role requires curiosity, skepticism, attention to detail, and a commitment to journalistic rigor. While focused on research and verification, the Fact-Checker should also possess a working knowledge of copy editing principles and style guides such as The Chicago Manual of Style and the Associated Press Stylebook.
Primary Responsibilities
Verify names, dates, statistics, quotes, and all factual claims across digital and print content
Conduct source checks and ensure accurate citation of original materials
Flag inconsistencies, unsupported assertions, or potentially misleading phrasing
Collaborate with editors, writers, and legal affairs to resolve factual queries
Apply cultural and contextual awareness to content involving sensitive topics
Track assignments and deadlines; communicate promptly about any blockers or delays
Support brand tone, accuracy, and clarity across platforms
Provide light copy support when appropriate, particularly around clarity, grammar, or tone
Desired Skills & Qualifications
Native-level English (spoken and written) required, with a strong command of idiomatic usage and editorial tone
1–3 years of professional experience in journalism, research, fact-checking, or editorial production
Strong research skills and familiarity with reputable sourcing practices
Working knowledge of The Chicago Manual of Style, AP Stylebook, and brand-specific style guides
Conversational Spanish preferred
Excellent judgment, communication skills, and a collaborative working style
Strong time management; ability to juggle multiple assignments under deadline
Comfortable using editorial tools (Google Docs, InCopy, CMS platforms, etc.)
Receptive to feedback and committed to quality and accuracy
