Job Description
Under supervision, follows an engineer’s direction in the completion of project related drawings and other technical project activities.
SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Work with the engineer to develop and execute production of engineering drawings using a design software (3D and 2D), engineering change documentation, and data from various engineering calculations as required.
- Apply engineering theory and find solutions to any problems that may arise during a project cycle.
- Coordinate work into drafting and complete the initial checking review of finished documents.
- Responsible for ensuring that pertinent John Crane Technical Standards and Procedures are followed in the completion of the project cycle.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology.
- 5 to 9 years of related experience at designing pressure vessels, heat exchangers or piping systems. Must have experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
- Must have a good math background that must include trigonometry and calculus.
- Must have the ability to work independently or in coordination with an engineer in development of designs or adaptations requiring advanced specialized knowledge.
- Must have aptitude for problem solving to include the ability to gather, correlate and present statistical data for review and use by an engineer or other parties toward the completion of an assigned project.
- Experience with the following computer programs: Advanced Experience using designing software (Solid Edge, Catia, SolidWorks, inventor, etc.) and/or 3D CAD-Solid Edge.
- Advanced English required.
Preferred Skills:
- MS Office products – Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams.
- Knowledge in welding (symbology and details).
- Knowledge in valves operation (gate, ball, globe, needle)
- Knowledge in P&ID symbology
- Knowledge of material specifications (ASTM and ASME) for but not limited to carbon steel and stainless steel.
- Knowledge of ASME Code Sec. VIII Div. 1 and B31.3.
- Knowledge of codes such as: ASME B16.5, ASME 16.11, B16.9 and B36.10M.
- Knowledge of API 682 and 614 standards.
- Knowledge of AWS D1.1 standards.
