BUILD SOMETHING BIGGER THAN YOURSELF

The Walt Disney Company, together with its subsidiaries and affiliates, is a leading diversified international family entertainment and media enterprise with the following business segments: Disney Entertainment, ESPN, Disney Parks, and Experiences and Products. From humble beginnings as a cartoon studio in the 1920s to its preeminent name in the entertainment industry today, Disney proudly continues its legacy of creating world-class stories and experiences for every member of the family. Disney’s stories, characters and experiences reach consumers and guests from every corner of the globe. With operations in more than 40 countries, our employees and cast members work together to create entertainment experiences that are both universally and locally cherished.

How will you contribute to our magical experience?

To lead the development, production, and management of general entertainment original content for Disney+ in Mexico. This role is responsible for building a strong pipeline of local productions aligned with global editorial strategy, ensuring quality, local relevance, and delivery against commercial objectives.

Drive the end-to-end development and delivery of original, culturally resonant content for the Mexican market—leveraging deep insight into local audiences, strong relationships with production houses and talent, and sharp brand-building acumen—to elevate the company’s profile, grow viewership, and unlock new revenue streams.

The successful leader will have extensive experience leading a content development function responsible for multi-stakeholder engagement and a comprehensive understanding of how productions and media relations activities yield business outcomes. The ideal candidate will be an experienced leader with a track record of driving success in a fast-paced environment, solid relationships with the content industry and will have exceptional and effective communication skills. This is a highly visible role reporting to the SVP, GM of Media Dist & Prod and partnering extensively with senior content heads.

The VP, Original Content Production will be responsible for:

Content Development & Production

  • Identify, evaluate, and oversee local original content projects in collaboration with editorial and commercial teams.
  • Manage relationships with the creative community (producers, writers, directors, talent).
  • Provide executive production oversight, ensuring timely, on-budget delivery aligned with Disney brand standards.
  • Ensure content quality and storytelling excellence across all projects.

Editorial & Commercial Planning

  • Collaborate with international and regional teams to define editorial needs and build a robust content pipeline.
Contribute to annual and quarterly content planning, aligning editorial goals with subscriber acquisition and engagement targets.

Stakeholder Management

  • Coordinate with internal teams (marketing, PR, finance, legal, production) to ensure seamless execution.
  • Represent the editorial vision to external partners and global stakeholders.

What we need from you to be part of this story:

Required Skills

  • Exceptional leadership and team-building capabilities, with a proven ability to inspire and manage cross-functional teams in a matrixed global organization.
  • Deep understanding of the Mexican media landscape, including audience behavior, content trends, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong editorial judgment and storytelling acumen, with the ability to translate cultural insights into compelling content strategies.
  • Advanced negotiation and relationship management skills, particularly with production companies, talent, and strategic partners.
  • Financial acumen with experience managing content budgets and optimizing ROI through data-driven decision-making.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills tailored to executive and creative audiences.
  • Proficiency in leveraging audience analytics, digital metrics, and market research to inform content development and performance evaluation.
  • Demonstrated ability to align content initiatives with broader brand and business objectives, driving measurable impact on growth and engagement.

Key Executive Traits

  • Cultural Fluency & Storytelling Instinct: Intuitively understands regional nuances, social trends, and audience preferences across Mexico’s diverse demographics—translating them into authentic narratives that travel well on multiple platforms.
  • Robust Production Network: Maintains long-standing, trust-based ties with Mexico’s top studios, independent production companies, directors, writers, and on-screen talent—accelerating green-light decisions and reducing time-to-market.
  • Talent Magnetism: Recognized as a go-to partner for creators; able to spot, attract, and nurture emerging voices while negotiating talent deals that balance creative freedom with budget discipline.
  • Strategic Brand Builder: Uses every project as a brand touch-point—aligning content themes, casting, and promotional beats with the company’s global brand promise to deepen consumer loyalty and advertiser appeal.
  • P&L & Data Savvy: Comfortable managing multimillion-dollar content budgets, applying audience insights, ratings, and digital metrics to optimize slate performance and ROI.
  • Regulatory Navigator: Up to date on Mexican content quotas, IP laws, labor regulations, and co-production incentives—ensuring compliance and unlocking public funding where possible.
  • Collaborative Leadership: Bridges global headquarters, local creative teams, and commercial partners; communicates clearly in Spanish and English; fosters a culture of innovation, inclusion, and accountability.
