A Day in the Life
Position will be focus on VAVE specific projects related to packaging components (cost saving and process improvements)Day to day activities might include but not limited to:
- Provide leadership in technical innovation across the P&L department.
- Define and implement strategic goals in the technical community in line with business unit strategy.
- Development of packaging components and assemblies for multiples medical devices.
- Serve as a SME on cross-functional, cross-divisional project teams focusing on design, technology and processes.
- Develops technical documentation including design specs, input requirements, validation and technical reports in accordance with quality system requirements.
- Supports issue investigations and corrective actions
- Actively collaborates with P&L peers across Medtronic to identify and implement best practices.
- Utilizes knowledge of FDA and ISO requirements related to packaging design and process validation, ensuring robust package validation and qualification.
- Utilize project management skills to gain alignment, lead across functional teams, and drive continuous improvement project that focus on "best in class" outcomes.
- Implement new packaging components from creating drawings up to SAP set up and inventory handling (phase in /out)
- Direct contact with external and internal site leadership as well as packaging components suppliers.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Designs, develops, and tests a wide variety of containers used for the protection, display, and handling of products.
- Determines packaging specifications according to the nature of the product, cost limitations, legal requirements, and the type of protection required, considering need for resistance to such external variables as moisture, corrosive chemicals, temperature variations, light, heat, rough handling, and tampering.
- Designs package exteriors considering such factors as product identification, sales appeal, aesthetic quality, printing and production techniques.
- Responsibilities may include documentation management and/or coordination of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and may support prototype line development in manufacturing facilities/plants.
TECHNICAL SPECIALIST CAREER STREAM: An individual contributor with responsibility in our technical functions to advance existing technology or introduce new technology and therapies. Formulates, delivers and/or manages projects assigned and works with other stakeholders to achieve desired results. May act as a mentor to colleagues or may direct the work of other lower level professionals. The majority of time is spent delivering R&D, systems or initiatives related to new technologies or therapies – from design to implementation - while adhering to policies, using specialized knowledge and skills.

Required Knowledge and Experience:
Looking for individuals with experience with packaging process, process validation, design verification, develop plan execute test and release reports.
Requires advanced knowledge of job area combining breadth and depth, typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
May have practical knowledge of project management.
Requires a Baccalaureate degree (or for degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree which satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)( 4)(iii)(A) and minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience.
