A Sales Development Engineer at Cognex is not your ‘traditional’ Sales Development role. An SDE at Cognex incorporates exposure to multiple facets of our business, such as Product Marketing, Engineering, Technical Support, and Outside Sales. An SDE will work cross-functionally with Marketing on strategy and lead generation campaigns, occasionally travel to sales territories to shadow experienced sales engineers for customer-facing experiences; and will work on various lead generation projects within various business units.
Essential Functions:
Qualify inbound leads across a variety of channels utilizing proven sales strategies to create sales pipeline
Initiate and develop conversations with prospects through an inbound and outbound motion to help convert them into new accounts
Research and reach out to key contacts at targeted accounts in an outbound motion as needed
Develop technical command of the diverse Cognex product portfolio through product training
Build cross-department relationships and lines of communication
Contribute feedback to Marketing and Sales effectiveness and efficiency initiatives
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Perform with a results-oriented, proactive mentality to move fast and meet goals
Engineering or manufacturing backgrounds and knowledge with attention to detail is required
Engaging verbal and written communication skills in person, over the phone, and across email and chat channels is essential
Well versed in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Good listening, note-taking, and debriefing skills are required
Experience using Salesforce.com, Vonage, website chat tools, and sales enablement platforms like Salesloft or Outreach is a plus
Minimum education and work experience:
Bachelor’s degree is required; Concentration in Technical or Engineering track (i.e. Computer Science, Electrical)
Customer-facing experience within a highly technical hardware or software engineering or manufacturing company is a plus
Proven ability to understand business objectives and achieve goals is required
High level of fluency in English is required
Demonstrated experience handling high volumes of inbound and outbound calls in English
