We are seeking an experienced PeopleSoft DBA / Upgrade Specialist to lead a major upgrade of our PeopleSoft platform, covering both the PeopleTools upgrade and application of the latest PUM Image. As part of this effort, the role will also help plan and execute server operating system upgrades from Windows Server 2016 to Windows Server 2025 across application and database servers. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in PeopleSoft upgrades, strong experience handling complex customizations, and solid skills coordinating OS upgrades in an enterprise environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute the PeopleTools upgrade and apply the latest PUM Image using PeopleSoft Update Manager (PUM) and Change Assistant.
  • Analyze and manage the impact of the upgrade on existing customizations:
    • Review compare reports to identify objects requiring retrofit.
    • Develop strategies to preserve or replace customizations with delivered functionality.
  • Work closely with infrastructure teams to plan and support the server OS upgrade from Windows Server 2016 to Windows Server 2025, ensuring PeopleSoft components run effectively on the new platform.
  • Perform and document backup, recovery, and rollback strategies for both the upgrade and OS migration.
  • Optimize system performance before, during, and after the upgrade.
  • Automate upgrade tasks and validations where feasible, using scripting and tools like PeopleSoft Test Framework (PTF).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, including Data Mover errors, Application Engine failures, and Integration Broker problems
  • Create and maintain detailed upgrade runbooks, environment diagrams, rollback plans, and known-issue documentation.
  • Collaborate with PeopleSoft developers, functional analysts, and infrastructure teams to coordinate timelines and minimize business disruption.
  • Support and participate in regression testing to validate customizations and integrations after the upgrade and OS changes.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years as a PeopleSoft DBA or Technical upgrade specialist.
  • Proven, hands-on experience leading multiple PeopleTools and PUM upgrades.
  • Strong understanding of the PUM selective adoption process.
  • Extensive knowledge of PeopleSoft Deployment Kit (DPK).
  • Advanced skills in backup, recovery, patching, and tuning.
  • Proficiency with SQL and scripting (Shell, PowerShell, Python, etc.)
  • Deep understanding of PeopleSoft architecture: application server, web server, Process Scheduler, Integration Broker.
  • Experience analyzing and retrofitting customizations using compare reports and Application Designer.
  • Familiarity with planning and executing OS upgrades for PeopleSoft environments, including pre- and post-migration validation.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and cross-team collaboration skills.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience migrating to or supporting cloud platforms such as Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD or DevOps processes for PeopleSoft deployments.
  • Work with Fluid UI retrofits and customizations.
  • Performance baselining and capacity planning following OS upgrade and PeopleSoft upgrade.
  • Use of PeopleSoft Test Framework (PTF) or similar automated testing tools.
