Medical Information & Scientific Communications Specialist
As a key contributor to the Medical Information (MI) function, you will ensure the scientifically accurate, timely, and balanced delivery of responses to unsolicited medical inquiries, in accordance with local regulations and Roche standards. While the role does not act as a direct liaison to the medical community, it may generate valuable insights depending on the quality and timeliness of responses. You will identify trends and recurring inquiries to inform the development and improvement of scientific content and internal knowledge-sharing tools. This includes supporting the alignment, localization, and maintenance of scientific communication materials, in close collaboration with Medical Affairs and cross-functional teams.
You will be the primary point of contact for the timely and accurate response to unsolicited medical inquiries, using approved and evidence-based content aligned with compliance requirements. You will contribute to the creation, localization, and maintenance of the local medical information knowledge base, ensuring consistency with global standards and supporting system-based access to scientific content. This role requires strong collaborative skills, as you will interact extensively with departments such as Clinical Research, Medical, Regulatory, Quality, Safety, and others to facilitate information exchange and keep all relevant employees informed of emerging issues. Additionally, you will ensure that any safety-related information received is promptly documented and referred to the appropriate Safety department, in compliance with local procedures. While operating independently within defined guidelines and policies, you will receive expert guidance in the most complex scenarios. Ultimately, you will serve as a resource for best practices and quality assurance within MI.
Responsibilities
You will play a key role in supporting the delivery of consistent, accurate, and compliant scientific communications, aligned with global MI standards and local priorities. This means collaborating closely with global and affiliate teams across therapeutic areas to ensure our scientific communication priorities are clearly articulated and collaboratively developed for effective local execution.
You will be responsible for delivering valuable MI, both proactively and on demand, to internal and external audiences, always ensuring compliance with industry standards and internal policies. This includes facilitating the prompt sharing of adverse events and quality reports with relevant departments and performing required reconciliations.
You will manage the bi-monthly publication 'Trending Topics in Science', ensuring its scientific relevance and alignment with local strategic priorities.. Crucially, you will build strong relationships within global and regional communities, actively contributing to working groups and advocating for the power of collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Identify and communicate country-specific business needs and computerized system enhancements to regional/global MI.
Ensure all MI leads at the affiliate are properly trained on MI processes and the medical information system, including onboarding for new hires.
Organize and classify the periodic Medical Information Insights report to contribute to shape each Therapeutic Area Scientific strategy.
Develop and implement medical information support materials.
Report potential adverse events and product issues to appropriate teams.
Who you are
Degree in Health Sciences (e.g., MD, Pharmacist, Biologist), with desirable experience in the pharma industry in medical information or medical education (1-2 years), preferably within a matrix reporting structure.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver scientific content clearly and compliantly to internal stakeholders.
Highly collaborative, detail-oriented, and focused on delivering accurate medical information within regulated frameworks.
Fluent in English.
Team-worker, able to focus and prioritize in uncertain and changing environments, strategic mindset, results-oriented.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Desirable: experience with digital scientific content platforms, collaborative tools (e.g., Veeva Vault, MI databases), Agile methodologies, and Real World Evidence generation or interpretation.
Additional Key Knowledge & Skills
Strong understanding of evidence-based medicine principles and excellent skills to conduct high-quality scientific literature searches using PubMed, Embase, or equivalent platforms.
Scientific acumen in therapeutic areas/products relevant to the business.
Focus on accountability and ownership, for continuous performance improvement and operational excellence.
Ability to seek diverse input from multiple stakeholders to drive innovative solutions.
Ability to incorporate feedback and ensure decisions are made swiftly to yield flawless execution.
