Job Description
Onyx Strategic Insights, a division of Expeditors, is seeking an Azure Data & Cloud Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and cloud infrastructure within Microsoft Azure. This hybrid role is essential to delivering robust, secure, and high-performance data solutions that power our analytics and product development efforts. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in data engineering and cloud architecture, with a passion for automation, optimization, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Synapse Analytics
- Lead or support the integration of new external data sources as needed.
- Build and manage Azure infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code.
- Collaborate with product and data teams to deliver clean, reliable datasets for analytics and machine learning.
- Automate deployment and monitoring of data workflows using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
- Ensure data quality, security, and compliance across all pipelines and storage layers.
- Optimize performance and cost of Azure resources, including compute, storage, and networking.
- Maintain documentation for data pipelines, cloud architecture, and operational procedures.
- Support incident response, backup, and disaster recovery planning.
- Stay current with Azure services and best practices, and recommend improvements to the data platform.
Qualifications
- Proven experience with Azure services such as Data Factory, Synapse, Azure SQL, Blob Storage, Key Vault, and Monitor.
- Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, PowerShell).
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines.
- Solid understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, data processing.
- Familiarity with DevOps and DataOps practices.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
- Self-motivated and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Information
Job Type: Full-time. Expeditors has an in-office work policy and offers 26 work-from-home days per year. Depending on location, employees may be required to travel for client and team meetings.
Education: Bachelor's Degree (Required)
Experience: 3+ years relevant professional experience in trade regulations and policy.
