The Opportunity:
The transport specialist will coordinate and execute domestic and international transportation (air, ocean & ground) for North America (including Canada, US & Mexico) by using preferred logistics provider within the routes (lanes), rates and equipment negotiated by Sourcing. It requires detailed attention to customer requirements, balancing of transport requests with available transport options and real time communication of service issues with shippers and receivers.
How You'll Make An Impact:
- Execute inbound, outbound, and domestic shipments: planning and scheduling (air, ocean & ground), requesting booking with selected carrier or forwarder, coordinating pick-up of goods, following up on customs clearance, and coordinating last-mile delivery.
- Provide the best transportation alternative for production/sales locations in terms of transit time, cost, and service.
- Utilize various transportation software systems and forwarders' websites to track shipments.
- Measure main KPIs of assigned sites/factories: on-time pick-up, on-time delivery vs. committed date, on-time delivery vs. requested date, analyze causes of delay, etc.
- Prepare and update daily, weekly, and monthly logistics reports to show shipment status and proactively replan if needed to ensure deliveries to production locations.
- Communicate fulfillment status to Logistics and Sales organizations as appropriate.
- Work closely with transport service providers to ensure efficient and effective execution of processes, assist in obtaining necessary transport permits and codes, and prepare proper transportation paperwork and export documentation.
- Support Customs team for import and export clearance and Accounts Payable for freight payment reconciliation.
- Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures and guidelines.
Your Backround:
- Bachelor’s’ degree in Logistics, Foreign trade, SCM or similar specialist.
- Ability to communicate verbally in English
- 5+ years of experience in transportation (managing imports and exports: ground, air, and ocean), from the total 3 years minimum should come from freight forwarders or LSP (Logistics Service Providers) for example: freight forwarders, ocean carriers, custom broker.
- Incoterms & Trade Operations
- Ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with customers, internal users (high sense of urgency).
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in working with advanced TMS platforms.
- Ability to travel up to 15% regionally.
- Experience in production scheduling, distribution, materials and inventory planning is a plus.
- Experience on freight settlement (payment of logistics costs) is a plus
