JOB SUMMARY
Purpose
Accounts for the coordination and implementation of research and development for new and existing organic botanical crops/active ingredients, as well as the research of different aspects of agriculture such as pest and disease control, organic production methods, irrigation methods, in order to provide advice and support to GAO farming operations. Research and development will support innovative improvements and additions to Amway products, as well as farm productivity and crop quality.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Interact regularly with farm Management, Senior Executives, and Amway I&S department to develop strategy and to ensure key objectives are achieved.
2. Work with Corporate’s I&S department to identify and validate new botanical species and varieties/biotypes with functional benefits in product applications. Provide financial and operational input for internal crop production and transition to manufacturing.
3. Provide technical support to GAO Agricultural department to support current crop production goals and return-on-investment targets.
4. In conjunction with partners and/or farm sites, investigate new and/or improved methods of organic agricultural practices which will increase crop productivity and quality. Research may include but is not limited to increasing soil fertility, improving pest and disease resistance, and increasing the quality and/or active levels in crops.
5. Manage development research to include reporting, analyzing and interpreting results from various partners.
6. Provide the site Agricultural Research direction to ensure the execution of improvement processes in support of GAO and Amway/Nutrilite.
7. Develop and present research lectures and publications with the approval and according to Corporate’s guidelines to support Amway’s image.
8. Operate Lab equipment used for scientific testing.
9. Keep records of results from experiments within laboratory, statistical evidence gathered from work in the field and from research in an archive or library as defined by the company.
10. Coordinate agricultural research being done under company grants at selected universities and private partners.
11. Develop and execute Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and business plans for Ag Research aligning strategic initiatives.
12. Travel to domestic and global locations to work with counterparts and Affiliate Business Leaders. Verbal and written English skills are required, multi-lingual skills are preferred.
