Job Description
The Senior Trade Compliance Analyst is responsible for the import and export compliance procedures and international trade programs, which include but are not limited to supply chain security (C-TPAT, AEO), international trade data integrity (country of origin, classification, ECCN, etc.), duty drawback, Free Trade Agreement, reconciliation, etc. This position will assist the Trade Compliance Manager in driving the overall logistics compliance strategies, activities, and requirements for medical devices import, export, and trade regulations. He/she will ensure compliance with applicable company policies and regulations while ensuring the expeditious flow of international trade. This individual will support the organization at a tactical and operational level and advise management on strategic initiatives.
Essential Job Duties
- Perform import/export activities in compliance with government rules and regulations, organizational policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
- Manage issues related to proper legal interpretation and determination of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, Country of Origin, Customs Valuations, ECCN, International Trade Administration’s anti-dumping regulated product flows, duty drawback, duty suspension, and other governmental programs driving exemptions of products and purchases.
- Manage compliance with preferential and non-preferential trade programs and issue certificates as applicable.
- Responsible for the Customs reconciliation and anti-boycott programs.
- Audit and maintain data governance in SAP/product database and applicable trade compliance records in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Create and maintain import/export compliance manuals, policies and procedures, SOPs, and trade compliance guidelines.
- Assist the Logistics Compliance Manager in researching Customs and regulatory requirements for new destination markets including classification, import licenses, valuation, documentation, and import/export restrictions and communicate back to the medical device business.
- Interact with IT and the Center of Excellence (COE) to streamline and improve import/export data for compliance; communicate requirements to IT and assist with testing and solutions implementation.
- Monitor the Miscellaneous Tariff Bill, determine products, and file new petitions.
- Monitor and alert new trade policies globally, such as Section 301.
- Maintain adherence to and assist with the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) implementation and annual validation.
- Submit and monitor import/export permit/license applications as needed.
- Conduct and report findings of internal risk assessments. Follow up with Compliance Improvement Plans.
- Provide training to other functional groups on import and export requirements.
- Assist in global and/or regional compliance projects/programs.
- Develop and generate compliance and service provider performance reports for management.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of operational processes and procedures to improve workflows and processes.
- Assist in defining Intuitive audit guidelines to monitor customer/order compliance and aid in determining future training/procedural needs.
- Communicate company policies and procedures to internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide assistance to company sites, suppliers, and customers in the continuous improvement of their compliance functions.
- Perform other duties, tasks, and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience
- Expert knowledge of customs regulations, FDA importing regulations, EAR & Census Trade requirements.
- Strong knowledge of Customs regulations, import and export classification, free trade agreements, and training skills.
- Strong analytical skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving with experience in risk management processes and gap analysis.
- Proficient in multi-tasking, well-organized, and reliable for consistent decision-making.
- Work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver creative and practical solutions to solve complex logistics and impact current and potential regulatory compliance issues.
- Ability to manage and drive change.
- Experience in Supply Chain Security Programs and duty drawback.
- Excellent oral and written communication in English (Full Bilingual) facilitation, and collaboration.
- Excellent research and analytical skills.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized with the ability to multitask with minimal guidance.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

- Travel up to 10%.
Required Education and Training
- Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain, international business, finance, or similar.
- 7+ years of experience in Trade Compliance/Logistics Operations Compliance in medical devices.
- Licensed Customs Broker – U.S. or similar professional trade certifications.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience in implementing and maintaining Global Trade Management Software.
- Experience in SAP S4/HANA and related transactional outputs is preferred.
- Previous customs compliance experience is preferred.
