About the Role
We are currently seeking our Regional Risk, Environment, Safety and Health (RESH) Director who will be responsible for managing all Risk, Environment, Safety, and health standards for our LATAM region (14 sites in 7 countries). The position oversees multi-national compliance programs and will coordinate with site’s RESH teams, to improve our culture and leadership in RESH. This includes changing or adjusting ways of working to ensure that the health, safety, risk and environment of all sites, employees, contractors, and subcontractors are priority within the business.

What You Will Do
Develop, organize, and implement RESH programs that meet or exceed local, regional, and national regulatory compliance standards, along with Essity global RESH Strategy.
Ensure compliance with relevant Health & Safety legislation across the business through an effective and sustainable integrated management system.
Work closely with global RESH counterparts to develop, maintain, and improve Health, Safety, environment and operational risks and standards.
Work closely with the leadership team to ensure that the RESH needs are fully aligned with the company’s strategy and compliance activities.
Provide leadership and functional ownership through a strategic vision for all the sites under their responsibility.
Oversee the development, coaching and high quality/competent RESH organization within the sites by building the appropriate network and cascade down all the initiatives and communication in RESH.
Assess current RESH programs on each site to evaluate compliance and effectiveness, and to identify specific areas and means of improvement based on leading performance monitoring, audits, and external evaluations.
Maintain a knowledge of industry and regulatory rules, requirements, and developments to ensure ongoing compliance and best practice.
Track leading and lagging indicators and advise the leadership teams with the appropriate actions to meet the targets.
Participate on incident investigations, monitor, and follow up of the Incident management process.
Initiate, perform, and document jobsite inspections and audits with special emphasis on hazard recognition and identifying unsafe behaviors.
Support the creation and delivery of training programs and subject specific initiatives that complement global, regional statutory trainings.
Develop a positive team culture through achievement of results, teamwork, development, accountability, competency, and professionalism.
Coordinate with the global experts high value insurance audits, and coordinate and execute the Essity corporate audits scheduled for those sites.
Who You Are
Bachelor’s degree in health and safety discipline or equivalent education and/or work experience in a related field
Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Safety Management Specialist (CSMS) or NEBOSH or others are preferred.
Certified Environmental Professional CHMM and CESSWI preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in health, safety, and environmental roles within international organizations
5+ years of multinational leadership experience with remote organization, stakeholder management, cultural influence, and legislative frameworks
Strong verbal/written communication skills and ability to advise all levels of the organization.
Drives change and engagement.
High level of professional and personal integrity, ethics, and role model
Ability to navigate complex-matrix organizations
Fluent in English and Spanish
Willingness and ability to travel up to 70% of the time across the LATAM region
Location : This position can be based anywhere within the LATAM region, with a preference for Colombia or Mexico.
