A Quality Assurance Engineer (QAE) will be responsible for driving testing activities, such as test plan & strategy definition, implementation of test case design techniques to detect positive, negative and corner cases, execute test cases and report results along with issues detected. This is a hands-on position. You will collaborate closely with test automation, product and dev teams.
Responsibilities:
- Test complex mobile applications and APIs that reference database back-end systems, collaborating with engineering and product teams to define test plans.
- Develop a cohesive quality strategy for multiple teams, based on the end user experience, business goals, and technical understanding of their products
- Perform thoughtful test plan peer reviews to ensure quality and distribute knowledge
- Identify needs for team-wide improvements and work with manager and teammates to implement them
- Evaluate test coverage across platforms and test types (unit, integration, end-to-end, regression, etc.) and identify the highest impact opportunities for improving coverage
- Advocate for Quality initiatives and best practices within the organization, engaging with engineers, product owners, and managers
- Unblock, support and effectively communicate cross functionally in order to achieve results
- Share your knowledge by mentoring others (including other Quality Assurance Engineers), giving demos and tech talks, and promoting engineering and quality best practices
- Participate in hiring activities: take part in technical interviews, share detailed feedback to hiring the best technical talent in the function
Experience:
- 5+ Years of experience in Quality Assurance & Testing software.
- 2+ Years of experience leading small/medium QA Teams (3-5 Team members)
- Experience debugging using Xcode or Android studio to view mobile device logs
- Strong understanding of how to test applications across platforms: mobile (iOS + Android), web, API, and server; using multiple tools and strategies
- Hands-on experience developing test plans, executing manual tests, and reporting bugs for complex features of mobile and web applications
- Ability to prioritize and coordinate work across numerous features or product teams
- Very good understanding of and ability to troubleshoot the testing ecosystem (plus points for mobile experience)
- Experience working executing automation test locally and collaborate with Automation Testers
- Has built systems and processes that increase the productivity of other quality engineers
- Track record of improving efficiency, especially through automation and improving testing strategies
Lyft highly values having employees working in-office to foster a collaborative work environment and company culture. This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule following the establishment of a Lyft office in Mexico City — Team Members will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Lyft considers working in the office at least 3 days per week to be an essential function of this hybrid role. Additionally, hybrid roles have the flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year. #Hybrid
