Your Role

As a Senior Data Ops Engineer at PALO IT, you’ll work with an insurance industry client to ensure seamless, secure, and scalable data operations across the lifecycle of data products and pipelines. You will be at the intersection of data engineering, DevOps, and analytics operations, enabling high-impact decisions and accelerating digital transformation.

• Design, build and maintain automated, scalable data pipelines to support ingestion, processing, and delivery of data from multiple sources (internal & external).

• Collaborate with data scientists, data engineers, and business stakeholders to ensure efficient data accessibility and availability across cloud and hybrid environments.

• Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability for data workflows to ensure data quality, integrity, and reliability.

• Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines for data applications, ensuring rapid deployment and rollback capabilities.

• Establish and enforce best practices for data governance, security, and compliance with insurance industry regulations.

• Optimize cloud infrastructure for cost efficiency and performance, particularly on platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• Manage metadata, data cataloging, lineage, and documentation to improve discoverability and traceability of data assets.

• Lead root-cause analyses and proactively resolve pipeline and infrastructure issues in production environments.

• Guide and mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, agility, and excellence.

Who You Are

• 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, DataOps, or DevOps roles with a strong data-centric focus.

• Proficiency in data orchestration tools like Apache Airflow, DBT, Dagster, or Luigi.

• Deep understanding of CI/CD tools (e.g., GitLab CI, Jenkins, ArgoCD) and Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).

• Advanced skills in Python or Scala for data pipeline development.

• Experience working with modern data stacks (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or Delta Lake).

• Solid understanding of cloud environments (AWS preferred) including S3, Lambda, EMR, Glue, IAM, and security configurations.

• Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) in data deployment scenarios.

• Strong grasp of data quality, lineage, observability, and monitoring practices.

• Bonus: Experience with tools specific to the insurance domain (Guidewire, Duck Creek, or actuarial data systems).
