The Buyer Planner plays a key role in ensuring the seamless flow of materials and goods necessary to support the company’s operations. This position is responsible for the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials, maintaining optimal inventory levels, and ensuring alignment between supply and production demand. The Buyer Planner collaborates closely with suppliers, logistics, and internal teams to drive efficiency, reduce costs, and support operational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement & Sourcing:
Source and purchase materials, goods, and services in alignment with company requirements. Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to maximize value while ensuring timely delivery.
Inventory Management:
Monitor and maintain appropriate inventory levels to support production schedules and customer demand, while minimizing excess and obsolete stock.
Demand & Supply Planning:
Analyze sales forecasts and production plans to develop accurate purchasing strategies. Adjust buying patterns based on trends, lead times, and supply constraints.
Supplier Management:
Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers. Evaluate supplier performance, manage ongoing communications, and resolve any quality, service, or delivery issues.
Cost Optimization:
Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities through strategic sourcing, supplier consolidation, and process improvement initiatives.
Logistics & Coordination:
Work closely with warehouse and logistics teams to schedule deliveries, resolve transportation issues, and ensure materials are received on time and in full.
Data & Systems Analysis:
Leverage ERP systems and reporting tools to track key metrics, monitor purchase orders, and analyze procurement trends for continuous improvement.
Compliance & Governance:
Ensure adherence to internal policies, procurement best practices, and regulatory requirements, maintaining ethical and sustainable sourcing standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
2+ years of experience in a Buyer, Planner, or similar procurement role.
Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Solid understanding of supply chain principles, demand planning, and inventory control.
Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a keen attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in supply chain management (e.g., APICS CPIM, CSCP) is highly desirable.
Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or retail environments.
Familiarity with lean purchasing techniques and continuous improvement methodologies.
