Position Overview

Group Audit (GA) seeks an Associate Auditor in Mexico City, Mexico, to evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls relating to the risks within business areas, as well as to conduct detailed testing of control policies, procedures and transactions to assess compliance with internal company policies, local regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

This role provides the opportunity to partner with various stakeholders from both the 'first line of defense' and 'second line of defense' areas, including Trading, Capital Markets, Risk Management, Anti-Financial Crime, Legal, Compliance, Internal Controls, Finance and Operations.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Works independently on audits of a specific business / functional area / region. Evaluates the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls relating to risks within those business areas.
  • May work on multiple audits at one time.
  • Participate in business monitoring and risk assessments.
  • Contribute to quarterly continuous monitoring.
  • Proactively develop and maintain professional working relationships within their function and stakeholders inside and outside of the Bank.
  • May occasionally work on ad hoc projects.

Skills You’ll Need

  • A Bachelor degree (or equivalent) from an accredited college or university (or equivalent), or equivalent work experience. Relevant professional certifications e.g., Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) would be an advantage but not required
  • We are looking for audit and non-audit backgrounds. The key being people who are highly motivated with a desire to learn.
  • Someone with an inquisitive mindset who isn’t afraid to ask questions until the process is understood.
  • Banking audit experience, along with expertise in the fields of Legal, Compliance, Regulation & Anti-financial Crime (or other Second line of defense functions) are desirable.
  • Ability and willingness to work in a high-pressure environment and deliver under tight deadlines.
  • Team working capabilities and the ability to build strong business and team relationships.
  • The candidate should have excellent written/verbal communication skills.
  • Fluent in English (verbal and written)
  • Independent in judgment and with unquestionable personal integrity and ethic. Able to challenge and be challenged whilst maintaining the highest levels of professionalism
