The Opportunity
Your Impact as CTO Sr Manager, D&AI SAP BW Sustain your scope would consist of seeking a seasoned Senior Manager – SAP BW Sustain to lead the sustainment and operational excellence of PepsiCo’s SAP BW (Business Warehouse) platforms. This role requires a strong leader with a deep understanding of SAP BW architecture, data modeling, performance tuning, and support frameworks in a global enterprise environment. The ideal candidate will ensure system stability, optimize data workflows, and collaborate across IT and business teams to support critical global analytics and reporting initiatives.
Lead the sustainment and performance management of SAP BW systems, ensuring high availability, reliability, and alignment with PepsiCo’s enterprise data strategy.
Oversee daily operations, incident resolution, and root cause analysis (RCA) processes related to SAP BW environments.
Implement proactive monitoring, alerting, and tuning practices to ensure consistent system health and prevent outages or data delays.
Collaborate with Data Engineering, BI Development, CloudOps, and Governance teams to manage data integrations between SAP BW and downstream platforms.
Drive standardization and automation across data loading, transformation, and reporting processes within SAP BW.
Partner with business stakeholders and data consumers to support evolving reporting needs and enhance the usability of BW-based analytics solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure high availability, stability, and performance of SAP BW systems and related BI platforms (e.g., SAP BO, BOBJ).
- Lead initiatives to implement monitoring, real-time observability, and performance tuning of SAP BW reports and ETL processes.
- Drive efforts to optimize InfoProviders, queries, and data models to improve report response times and system efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with Data Engineering, CloudOps, Analytics, and DataOps teams to support end-to-end data integration and reporting workflows.
- Serve as the primary liaison between IT, business stakeholders, and compliance teams to ensure SAP BW operations adhere to governance, security, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide clear and consistent updates to senior leadership on SAP BW sustainment activities, program risks, and operational metrics.
- Manage global sustainment processes including incident management, system testing, change control, and release coordination for SAP BW applications.
- Oversee SLAs and ensure timely resolution of issues through close collaboration with SMEs and offshore support teams.
- Participate in demand intake and Agile ceremonies to align sustainment with project activities and business priorities.
- Champion process improvements by introducing automation, proactive issue detection, and structured escalation procedures.
- Foster a culture of accountability and customer-centric support across the SAP BW sustainment team.
- Build and nurture strong partnerships with business users, enabling effective communication, expectation management, and value delivery.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team to support current operations and grow capabilities for future needs.
- Remove operational roadblocks and enable agility in support prioritization without compromising service quality.
- Utilize a strong understanding of SAP BW architecture, data warehousing principles, and cloud-based infrastructure to guide strategic decisions and operational planning.
Who Are We Looking For?
- 10+ years of IT experience in large-scale global organizations, preferably within the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry.
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in Data & Analytics, with a strong focus on SAP BW (including BW on HANA/BW/4HANA) sustainment, support operations, and performance tuning.
- Proven expertise in managing mission-critical SAP BI systems (e.g., SAP BO, BEx, BW Queries, InfoProviders, ADSOs, Composite Providers).
- 8+ years of experience collaborating within cross-functional IT teams, including Data Engineering, CloudOps, and Business Engagement functions.
- 7+ years of demonstrated leadership in managing technical support teams, setting operational KPIs, and driving BI service maturity.
- Deep understanding of incident management, root cause analysis (RCA), and change management processes within SAP ecosystems.
- Strong knowledge of data governance, master data, and integration of SAP BW with downstream analytics platforms and enterprise tools.
- Familiarity with cloud integration (preferably Azure) for hybrid reporting architectures and future-state platform transitions.
- Ability to translate complex technical challenges into clear business impacts for non-technical audiences.
- Passionate about delivering exceptional customer experiences, with a strong commitment to service-level adherence and business continuity.
- Strong background in operational excellence, including automation, monitoring, performance optimization, and proactive issue detection.
- Experience implementing or managing observability frameworks and site reliability practices for BI/Analytics platforms.
- Proven ability to lead global initiatives, manage vendor resources, and work across multiple time zones and cultures.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across technical and business teams.
- Experience developing and executing strategic sustainment plans, including cost optimization, vendor transitions, and operational scaling.
- Prior experience working with or supporting PepsiCo or similar global enterprises, preferably with exposure to multi-region BI landscapes.
- Strong communication and executive reporting skills, with the ability to convey insights, risks, and priorities to senior leadership.
